MONTE IS A BITCH! (Podcast #23)
Can I tell you how much I needed MONTE’s new album, “Bad Sick Love” in my life? Sometimes you just don’t know what you’re missing till you hear it. Especially the track “Bitch.” It’s just so…SHREDDY!
So yeah. I guess I was really missing a nice hefty chunk of ROCK music in my punk rock heart…this is the kind of ROCK that makes me wish I hadn’t gotten rid of my 1968 Oldsmobile Delta 88. I want to cruise the heck out this album! I might even smoke a cigarette and flip off some truckers while hauling ass! OK, my friends know I drive like a grandma, but this is the kind of energy that MONTE brings out in me. What can I say? Rip the arms off my jean jacket - let’s get this party started!
I am affirmed by Caitlin Montclare’s snarl, her brutal attack of the guitar. I like girlie pop but I also like gritty, and this album is a great mix of high-gloss production and roughed up edges. I mean, the end of the song “Bitch” has a nice juicy BURP at the very end of it (or at least I think it’s a burp!? It is some sort of gut-noise, and I love it).
I actually met Caitlin Montclare of MONTE through her girlfriend, my internet bestie, Andie Aronow. We have this running joke that we’re going to trade lives (I am going to stay in Brooklyn and she is going to come to California and tend my chickens here at the ranch). She is a truly bright and beautiful soul who really cares about lifting artists up. Bless you, Andie!
On Sparkle and Destroy Episode 23, my pal Andie of Women That Rock and her partner in crime Caitlin Montclare of the band MONTE talk about MONTE’s new album, Christina vs. Britney, and how to find your tribe, online or otherwise. Caitlin is a jane-of-all-trades guitarist, singer, arranger, and bassist and Andie is a wizard of marketing, networking, event planning, and cheerleading (I mean that figuratively not literally). Together, these two Brooklynites are shaking up the establishment. Isn’t that romantic?
