Raw Track from the new record! (Hot Shot)
We're totes making progress on our first full length cassette, JEWEL CASE, thanks to the expert hands and ears of Randall Sena over at Certain Sparks Music in Lompoc! We don't know what we'd do without him or his wise-cracking ways. He even sang a few backup spots for us...adorable, right?
We've recorded this extra special album over two Mexican food-induced sessions with Randall and another two with our buddy Pat Hayes at Cock's Lodge Studio in San Luis Obispo (he really was able to capture Gabriel Crushers' drums and Dr. Cain's fuzzy bass in an epic way).
Vocals have been tracked, glockenspiel has been added, guitar has been laid down and re-laid down (eh...some of us are rock stars and need our guitar to be, like, perfect?) and tambourines have been shaken. OK, a lot of tambourines have been shaken!
Now, we wait as the sneaky little mixing elves do their thing deep in the forest of DIY music land. PS: I call this music "Adult teen rock and roll" completely aware that I am making a pointed homage to the glorious Lisa Prank, who rocks my world. (Go listen to her new album right meow!)
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY...Our JEWEL CASE ALBUM RELEASE show will kick off Oct. 8 in SLO on Cassette Store Day at a super exciting MYSTERY LOCATION TBA. Could it be in an abandoned church? A tree house? Your friend's back yard? You'll find out soon enough. We're working on it. Till then, dance like no one's watching and break for seagulls. It could be Fred.
